That's not a hybrid though is it?
I think you're brilliant. I
I think you're brilliant. I don't do that kind of driving, but there's a certain skill and ability to drive the car the way you want it to drive with a manual transmission that just can't be duplicated.
I would slightly disagree -
I would slightly disagree - briefly searched through www.allcars.com and it gave me just the automatic GB option.
an electric powertrain does
an electric powertrain does not need a conventional gearbox, as there is plenty of torque at low revs from an electric motor. The hybrid electric power source is often co-located within the transmission for this reason.
Just a point of order, and only 4 years too late, but its debatable whether you can do any "good" for the planet with an automobile.
Taking our preferred transmission is evidence of Capitalism gone astray
I am TIRED of having giant companies dictate what I can buy and what I can\\\'t buy. If only 5-10% of car buyers want manual transmissions, that\\\'s hundreds of thousands of units, so the car companies should make them. The fact is that fewer kinds of machinery a manufacturer has to make, the more profit it makes. Not my problem! If that industry wants ME to be a customer, it will have to make a manual transmission, and not only that, it must be a good one. If it can\\\'t or won\\\'t do that, it will be used cars from now one.
I rather like driving an older car anyway, if it means I can have what I want. I currently drive a very low mileage \\\'99 Toyota 4Runner with 4WD and a 5-speed. I\\\'d be fine with trucks, which will probably keep the manuals longer, though at some point I may want better gas mileage. It will probably have to be an older BMW, or something along those lines. I like 4WD, but in a car, I want RWD with my manual. I learned to drive in snow with RWD, and feel even more secure, though not quite as sure I will be able to go, as with 4WD.
But a manual transmission will always be a key to MY driving pleasure. I never have bought and never will buy a car without one.
