Plug In Hybrid Prius

Created November 21, 2008, at 10:32 pm by winstondray

Hi there,
I just saw a Prius with a wrap on it that said it was a plug in hybrid with 100+mpg. Does anyone know about this and where one could buy one?

Toyota does not "yet" make a plug-in version of the Prius. But they do keep promising one is in the works.

What you can buy, is an aftermarket conversion, that converts a factory standard Prius into a plug-in hybrid that can run for about 25 miles or so at 35mph on battery only.

The plug in conversion is an extra battery mounted under the rear cargo space, along with a charger and computer software update.

You can search Prius conversions on the web. I believe they are running about $7,000 to $10,000. That's for the CONVERSION, after you already own a Prius.
