No Dealer Markups at Concord Toyota

Created August 27, 2004, at 7:05 pm by Anonymous

At Concord Toyota in Concord, CA there is no deposit required to get on the waiting list and there are no dealer markups. (ie no "fair market value" addons and no "dealer installed options". MSRP is all we ask. The list is currently around four months long, but people who are not picky sometimes get cars within fifteen days of listing.

I hope you went out to your best customers and told them that they would have first pick of the allocation if they were interested. So many dealers tick off their current customers and potential new ones by jacking up the price and letting customers feel like they are getting the twice over. We saw it happen with the new Thunderbirds. Hope it doesn't happen with the Hybrid Escape.

Our list works just like I posted, but Escape customers won't be satisfied because Toyota doesn't sell that vehicle.

Unfortunately there is no way to test drive a Prius unless you know someone who has one. The reason is simplistically complicated. Each dealer gets a certain number of cars "allocated" to them per month. If there is a car in our inventory for the purpose of test driving we lose one spot in the allocation. That would mean 12 less Prius' per year and a two month increase in the waiting list. There is no obligation if your name is on the list so you can preference one and drive it when it comes in. If you do not like the car, by all means, you do not have to buy it.

Check out Enterprise Rent a car for a test drive. It will cost you the rental time but you can see how it drives. They have a few around the different rental locations in California.
