New to me 07 FEH, how'm I doing?

Finally, after spending many days on a railcar travelling some 3,000 km across Canada our new/demo (lots of miles for a demo I must say, but I knew that) FEH arrived. So far, two weeks and a bit of driving, my wife and I really like the vehicle. As a retired park ranger I'm used to driving big clumpy 4WD trucks, so any complaints of rough ride are probably lost on me, as it seems like a pretty nice ride.
I am using a scan gauge and it is vers 3.14 (3.15? anyway no star), but haven't figured out how to get to SOC, which is, I guess, an Xguage. Have not figured out the mystery of Xguage yet. For MPG, and daily trip I seem to be in the low to mid 30's at most, which in CDN MPG is actually pretty darn good. Yesterday for example it said, 31.5 miles driven at 32.5 mpg. However, no doubt could do better, as still not sure as to how to best drive the thing, tho I've ready many hypermile posts about it.
I assume that the scanguage is giving me US mpg. If so, in CDN, it's pretty much what the window govt economy sticker said, 38mpg, which is not bad for 4WD. However, I'm toddlin' about town like a fedora wearing senior who can be barely seen over the streering wheel. And, I don't wear one or normally drive like that, nor am I that short. I think I may spend a day or two driving it a little more my normal style and see what that does!
Have observed this, and is it the norm? Boy, gosh, gee, you have to be amazingly light of foot to not have the gas engine pop on. Anything but a feather from a dead stop and there's the gas engine. So, I'm probably driving folks nuts from lights and stops, tho no angry responses yet!
All in all, big thumbs up. The changes of the various modes of 'engine' are so smooth, I'm really impressed, and the shiftless tranny is great! One gripe, so far, a rattle somwhere in dash over by passenger side, comes and goes.
Ok, this might be going a bit tooo far, but.... if I'm looking for a parking space in a lot, and I see a 'normal Escape', even if I have to go a bit further, if I can I'll park next to it! Yeah I know, I'm being a snoot!

Average over 34mpg and your a hypermiler, which is a combination of EPA city and highway 31/36. Your doing great so far, just watch those RPM's and keep them low. Also, I drive with my right shoe off to have a much better feel of the accelerator pedal. That should help you get use to driving in EV and impove MPG overall.
Programming SOC is very easy, go to the home screen and hit the More button three times. At scangauge.com, you can go to this screen: http://scangauge.com/support/pdfs/XGAUGE.pdf and go down to Escape Hybrid. The first gauge data is for SoC. Start entering the letters and numbers into each title you see and save. After you complete and save all the titles data for SoC, you have the new gauge. You can choose up to 25 extra X gauges this way. Just play with it a little and you will pick it up. To get to the gauge, just go to gauges and keep pushing till you get to SOC. I keep SOC, Load, instant MPG and RPM on one SG all the time. I monitor "Today MPG" on my other SGII so I know what my average is between trips that day.
I also meant to sum up with the fact that I am finding it a whole lot of fun to drive around, as there is a fair bit to think about compared to any other vehicle I've driven. Tho I guess it's a different kind of fun then say driving a 'Boxter' with the top down!
And, thanks for the Xguage info. I'll get that SOC going yet. That be a lot'o numbers tho!
Thanks GaryG, SOC all in now and a few others too. As you said, once going, nothing to it, c'ept getting the numbers right!
Good to hear everything is under control, I knew you could do it if I could!
