Navigation CD problem

Created December 31, 2006, at 1:28 pm by jppayne

I cannot load the Navigation CD's in my new Mariner. There is an "install me first" CD and then the 9 or so regional CD's. For each one it complains that the CD may be dirty, which they are not. Am I missing something simple. Do you have to stand on one foot when you insert the CD? (grin)

Hi Jon

Is it possible the dealer gave you the wrong set of CD's? They may have changed the CD's for the '07's, because my '05 did not come with a starter disc. There are a total of 10 CD's for my FEH and #1 starts with Calif/Nev/Hawaii and #10 is Canada.

Good luck with your new Hybrid!

Gary;
Thanks for the reply. The dealer really doesn't have a clue. They did originally give me a Ford CD set, but whe it didn't work they changed it for one that said Lincoln Mercury on it. I have no confidence that it is the correct set.

They were like the keystone cops when I left it there yesterday. They didn't even know where to put the CD since other Fords have the Nav device in the rear of the car, under the seat, or in a pop out unit in the dash. Anyway, they are calling in their 'radio expert' today. Meanwhile they gave me a new Mustang to drive, woo hoo! You can see the gas gauge move as you mash the gas pedal!

The dealer replaced the radio and the CD's. Everything works!

Curious, are the new CD's the same as the others? Did you get an installation CD like the other set? The reason I'm asking is because originally, I thought they may have given the correct CD's for your vehicle to someone else, and gave you their set. Ford uses a better GPS system in other vehicles that don't require the Energy or Fuel Economy screens like the hybrid.

Gary;
They did change the CD's.

There is a "Navigation System Application Disk" and which has a prominant Ford logo with the work Lincoln under it.

The map cd's are a set of 12 and are labeled Ford. The Version is 3V with a number - 6L1T-18C912-AA.

Does this agree with your experience?

And since the repair I have another radio problem. When you press menu the first choice (audio somethong or other) will not work until you push the bottom most choice button, and then the audio choices pop up. Back to the repair shop I guess.

I also had all 4 door panels replaced under warranty because they showed signs of stress, i.e. the plastic was discolored in the area that the panel was probably fastened.
