Mariner Hybrid - Hills/Battery Pack/New Stereo

Created November 2, 2006, at 1:21 pm by newlyhybridized

I'm about to buy an '07 Mariner Hybrid, and have a few questions that I haven't found addressed in any of the other boards or reviews.

1. How does it perform on hills? I'm coming from a '95 Nissan PU - 4 cylinder. Will it drive up a mountain road better than that would?

2. If the back windows have a vent to cool the battery pack, does that mean anything sitting in the back of the truck, on top of the battery pack, would warm up as it does? Is there a potential for the luggage, groceries, etc, piled in that area to cause the battery to overheat?

3. If I want to replace the stereo/nav with something that's MP3 compatible, is that possible?

Thanks!

The MMH AWD has the same drivetrain as the FEH AWD. You should have better traction than the Nissan. Two guys posted a vidio of off road driving in the hills.

There is only one vent to the outside near the driver's side rear window for the battery. There is no problem with cargo storage, and it can't effect the battery what so ever.

Many have replaced the radio/Navi, so yes that can be done.

The '08 MMH has an all new look and I think some of the radio's are MP3 compatable. Not a radio man myself though.

Thanks Gary.:)

Can anyone recommend a good stero/nav that will perform all necessary functions, and be mp3 cmp for the 2007 Mariner Hybrid?

Also, anyone know of a reputable place in Los Angeles (Pref. Hollywood or Culver City) to get it installed?

Thanks again.

Hi

First post on this forum but wanted to answer a question about MP3 players. I have a new 07 FEH AWD with all the goodies I could load up on it! It came with a 6 disc CD player under the front passenger seat but it would not play MP3's. I had a specialty shop here in Las Vegas (DC Auto) install a 10 disc MP3 player behind the 6 disc changer (under the same seat). It is hooked into the head unit via radio frequency (88.1). The unit itself is operated with either a remote or the small head unit that has all the controls.

I now have a system that has the Ford Hybrid Nav unit with 6 disc CD + 10 disc MP3. I can drive from here to NYC and never hear the same song twice! It sounds very good for a stock stereo system. I don't recall the price in fact I negotiated it in with the original purchase price.

I hope this helps.
