Let one slip away in CA

I've been on a Prius wait list since Nov '03 from a Sacramento dealer (100 miles away). I also got into the good graces of a young sales rep at Downtown (Oakland) Toyota. He had a black Prius with Option package 7, my preference. Just off the boat. Don't ask me how I got ahead of their 60+ long-wait list.

The dealer first wanted $4k over MSRP, but would've come down to *just* $1500 over MSRP. Becuase my wait list order is negotiated at $750 under MSRP, I walked away.

sigh. I just hope people ordering the '05 version don't bump me off a list!

Next time: fishing the country for a Prius.
