Impact of AC

Created January 25, 2006, at 5:15 pm by Anonymous

Can anyone tell me how many mpgs are used to run the AC on an insight - does AC impact the mpg even if it is not turned on?

AC a good thing?

Thanks,

I've driven my 2000 Insight over 308,000 miles and have found in the few times that I've run the AC I experience a 10% reduction in mileage (62-64 mpg down to 56-57 mpg). We bought the Insight for economy...run it with the windows open!

AC is certainly a good thing and you will know it if you are driving in a hot summer weather on a road burning with heat.Yes it is true that the AC of a car does burn the fuel because how else is it going to work anyways.
