Honda Civic Hybrid in Cambria

Created September 23, 2004, at 5:40 pm by Anonymous

I just bought my new Honda Civic Hybrid on Aug. 28th. It is awesome. Averaging 43mpg for 1200 miles. It rides smoothly, solid body, simple interior, easy to read instrument panel and very quiet running. It is more than I expected. I will buy the CRV when it offers the Hybrid.

Thank you,

What am I doing wrong? I just got my civic hybrid a couple of weeks ago but it is holding steady at 30.2 mpg. It's a manual so I don't know if that matters. What do you think?

Can this car be damage in a flood or in pouring rain? I'm afraid it might damage the electrical part of the car if I drive through a puddle of water on the side of the road. What kind of water damage protection or warranty does this car have? If I have to worry about this then I would rather buy a regular honda civic.

I have averaged 58mpg @ 2000rpm, on flat roads. I have 5sp civic. My "normal driving" ave is around 50mpg. I have driven in Mtns & even then the ave stays pretty high. I filled up in Kalispell, MT & drove thru Glacier Park, and on other side ave read 63mpg. I Like My Civic Hybrid!!

a flood will damage any car. doesn't matter if its a hybrid or not.

In the same way, cars aren't meant to drive through more than a few inches of water, hybrid or not. Splashing water from driving through a mud puddle will not damage hybrid components. The electronics components and batteries are usually placed inside the passenger cabin or trunk space. The motor components are enclosed as are all the interior components of an engine. Some of the cabling might be located exterior to the car, but it will all be waterproof; in situations such as this, road debris would pose more of a hazard.

The worse you can expect to happen is that your brakes might become slippery, having water on the rotors. This can happen with any car. Driving through too deep of a mud puddle is dangerous, for any car.
