i believe that the Mariner is the "higher" end or the two. when my wife and I were looking for our FEH / MMH, we noticed that the difference in the base MMH to the FEH was the addition of a 6 disc cd changer as a standard feature. and that was also the difference in price as well. i'm not sure if there are any differences with the cabin finishing, since we only test drove the MMH that was in our area.

The Mercury version of any car from FoMoCo is the higher end car. However, these days the differences are rather slight. Perhaps a reworked standard equipment list, minor trim differences, etc.
(Mercury models, of course, always have a a distinctive grille and often have the euro-style side marker light on the front fenders.)

I think its the mariner which is being the high end car.But the differences are not very high there are only a minimal difference.
