HCCI engines.....has anyone heard of them?

Well, anyone heard of these? They are purported to be a regular combustion engine minus an ignition system in the cylinder that simply uses the compression to ignite it making the engine use less fuel for an improvement of 15% in the mpg ratings. It is also supposed to limit pollution because it burns off most of the pollutants that would normally survive the combustion proccess.

Never heard of it but it sounds a lot like a standard diesel engine. I'd take a block of salt with this though. "most" of the pollutants are burned off in any combustion engine. It's the remainder that cause the problems.
