Audi A3 TDIe crosses Australia at 71.3 mpg!
Yes, that's in US gallons.

the Audi is more fuel efficient than the Prius, wherein Audi performs better and is capable of making great long distance cruiser. With its revised engine, audi 4000 quattro control arm, and low rolling resistance tires, it claims the A3 1.9 TDIe is good on highways.

Yep,
And the next generation Audi A3 will get maybe 50.01 mpg while the next gen hybrid could average over 100 mpg if anyone actually manufactures a decent hybrid drivetrain.
Diesel is better than pure gasoline but still offers nothing for the future.
