First tankful on new 07 4WD FEH

I got 34.7mph on my first tankful and am extremely happy. I was hoping for 28 or better but never dreamed that I would do so well. I tend to be a light-footed driver, so that may have had a lot to do with it.

It is a shame that the gas kicks in at 30 and not 35 or 36. Thirty-five is the speed limit on most city streets here and doing less than that obstructs traffic.

I also noticed that many of the Escape accessories (running boards, cargo net etc.) are not designed for the hybrid. Overall, I love this thing!

Dick, you will find that you can get up to 40 MPH before the gas kicks in. It'll just take some practicing.

What streets are you on? My streets' speed lmits are only 25.

I bought my Excape Hybrid AWD a month ago and the first tank wasn't quite sohigh as yours, I was about 32.7. But I've been able to get better mileage in the subsequent tanks all the way up to 35 for an average.
I've been most surprised at the mileage I achieve at highway speeds, many times averaging 36 or better going 60 mph. the window sticker says 33 and 29, the city rating seems pretty accurate but way low on the highway rating.

Doug, I agree, the highway mileage is way better than I expected.

I am dreading my first dealer maintenance. I bought my FEH on 9/11 and on 9/12 I started hearing ads on the radio announcing that the Ford dealership I bought it from (Gregg Young in Westpoint) had been sold! I have no idea whether the dealership will remain Ford, or even if they can service hybrids.
