Family Car?

Hey y'all! First post. Quick question. I know the Prius is larger than it seems but has anyone tried 3 baby seats in the back?

Holy cow, you must be a very busy person. Three kids in car seats! Are they all in diapers, too?

I just measured my Prius. There are three seat belts in the back, with the middle one a lap belt (that may have changed, as mine is a 2005 model).

The rear seat is 54 inches across, and about 8 inches above the seat the armrests protrude into the sitting space 2 inches, so you have 50 inches total available at armrest height.

How big is a baby seat these days? If you already have the three you use, you could measure them and see if there's room. I'd be wary of squeezing them together too tightly--don't want to smash little fingers.

Or you could head to a Toyota dealer with the seats and "test drive."

Lol, well...My wife is a pediatrician so they're very welcome!:D Right now I have a SAAB 9-5 that's about 55 inches across. The seats JUST fit but that's more a function of the seatbelt spacing. We have a 3.5 yr old, a 1.5 yr old (will be two in March) and the new baby is due in July. So, our oldest will be in a booster, technically, but we still want her in the backseat. The Camry may be a better fit but I just really want to make it as worthwhile as possible. Plus, being the onetime owner of a SAAB 900, I really like the hatch of the Prius. An infant, front facing seat, and booster should fit in better than the two front facings and booster I tried, so....

We'll have a minivan, anyway, by the time I would actually get around to buying a Prius or whatever. This will just be for me to pick the kids up at school in, basically.
