Engine 'Auto stop' feature

Created July 1, 2008, at 2:09 am by chheng

I have an 04 HCH and it doesn't auto stop anymore, what do I do to fix it, Honda said the auto stop would work again once it updated the ecm and learned my driving habit, but it hasn't.

Hi ccheng:

Could you give us a bit more information?

-Is it a CVT or manual transmission model?
-How "long" (distance and time) are your driving distances?
-What is the percentage of City and Highway driving?
-What are you defroster and AC settings (including the ECO button setting) ?
-When was your last service and they did "fix" or maintain?

Cheers;

MSantos

Manual

30 avg

60/40

Unknown defroster setting/ AC is on the 4th click with ECO on recycled air

In the middle of June when Honda replaced the car battery was bad, Honda said nothing else was wrong and updated the computer and the computer needed to relearn my driving habits for the auto stop to work again, but it hasn't yet.

Is that 30 minutes of driving time or 30 miles of driving distance?

When you turn off AC (and make sure the defroster is also off) and drive until the car warms up, does the auto-stop kick in at all?

If not, can you do a power reset and see what that does for you?

To make a power reset just disconnect the 12V battery for 15 minutes and then reconnect it. Make sure you have the radio code at hand as it may need to be activated again.

After reconnecting the 12V battery go for a very gentle and leisured drive (keep the rpms below 2500 and the speeds low) and return when the SoC shows fully charged.

cheers;

MSantos
