Diversity Antenna
Created March 20, 2007, at 5:45 pm by Nicholus
I noticed that the non-Hybrid 07 Altimas continue the no-radio-antenna approach (I have an 03 and appreciate not having to worry about it getting snagged in carwashes etc).
Looks like the Hybrid, however, has a "diversity antenna" on the roof...is it a function of some interference that the NiMH battery puts out that messes with the conventional no-antenna design? Any engineers out there?
Just curious.
Also - I read that if you get the Tech package, that you get some readout on hybrid performance. Is that just some graphic readout of efficiency? SO envious of you guys who have one already!

from what i know, all hybrids have the diversity antenna because of the interference
the tech package does give you additional info on the hybrid system....that is why i'm stuck waiting for my car to come
Thanks, Langjie - hope you get your car delivered soon!
thanx, supposedly 8 days....
though it originally should have came 6 days ago...seems like all the ordered cars were pushed back by 2 weeks
The rceprtion on the Hybrid is great and the Xm sat is perfect also
This article from Nissan
http://www.nissannews.com/nissan/news/products/20070628100220.shtml
lists the changes for the 2008 Altima Sedan as:
Enhancements to the 2008 Altima Sedan include:
- Standard splash guards
- Standard Diversity Antenna
- Available factory-activated XM® Satellite Radio (required monthly subscription sold separately)
- Standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)
so if this is true then all Altima sedans will have the same antenna as the Hybrid.
Something doesn't seem right about this.
my Altima hybrid seems to have bad reception of radio compare to my old Mazda Protege....do anyone of you have bad reception?
