converter usage in hybrid cars

I just want to know which converters are used in hybrid cars & what is their input & output?

What kind of converters? I use a 90-watt DC-to-AC converter that plugs into the cigarette lighter of my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid to power my laptop when I'm using the GPS navigator software. It works great.
