blocked air vents from ice buildup

This morning I was driving to work and my 05 Prius was running on gas only it seemed as if the electric motor was not working.There was also a vibration in the front end.Ipulled over and lifted the hood clearing the snow and ice build up covering the air intakes,Isaw nothing physicaly wrong.jumped back in and car started to run like normal.This happen to anyone else?
