The waitlist here, according to one dealer, is one and a half years. According to the other, they're not taking orders.
However, if you want a (new) salsa red #6 prius, you can have it right now, provided you can make it out to New Mexico/Colorado to get it. If you're interested, email me: .

I heard that Ford has decided to increase production for the Escape Hybrid to 17,000 for 2004 instead of 4,000. They found that they could get more battery packs and that was the main concern. Why not have the best of both worlds?- Good fuel economy and plenty of room for people and gear.
I know some will argue that it's not 45 mpg, but for me it will replace a Mountaineer that gets under 20 mpg - a 50% increase in fuel economy and much lower emissions. Plus a lot of my driving is short trips and under 25 mph.

i was interested in the ford escape mainly for the size reasons, but the timing wasn't right for my buying of a car in general. i needed one basically now, and they were not yet in production. i agree that adding the hybrid technology to cars in general needs to occur. hopefully the escape will confirm the demand is real and they will make more & spread the technology to other cars in their fleet.

Steve, the Escape Hybrid has been in production for a month and 15 states are already getting them. The production for the next 3 months has been raised 300%.

i know the ford escape hybrid just went into production, but having been in engineering & manufacturing over 25 years i do not want to buy the early units.
i like the honda hybrid since it's hinging largely on the honda civic's old trusty small 4 cyl engine, with the civic body with it's own safety test history.
and i was simply due for a car now.

Beaver Toyota in Santa Fe has only a 3-4 month wait on new Prius orders.

My new Prius took exactly 8 weeks to arrive, from Karl Malone Toyota. So far everything is perfect. I would like to find a way to charge the main battery overnight. The battery went to a full charge driving down from the crest but has never gone that high driving in town. With that full charge the car ran in electric - only mode even at 65 mph! If I could get it fully charged overnight I could drive to work with no gas.
