California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.
August 30 (week of) production is being scheduled now for the selected dealers in these 15 states.
If your salesperson says they will have one by October and they aren't in one of these states, they are not well informed!

I check with my dealer frequently, and they tell me the order banks still have not been opened for the remaining 35 states. They are currently scheduling the week of Oct. 25 production for the 15 states. The increase in allocation to 17,000 units for the last quarter of 2004 may only be for the original 15 state's dealers.
My order for a Silver, leather, cargo cover and 110 volt equipt Hybrid is sitting on the sales manager's desk, ready to go into the system. Maybe next month, they can input it.

It appears that the order banks have been opened up for the remaining 35 states to order 2005 Escape Hybrids. I have my order in the system, but it is too early to know when it might be scheduled for production. If I'm lucky, I'll get it by year end and get another $500 tax break.
Silver
Leather
Cargo Cover
110 Volt
(Nav system in short supply so I Passed - didn't want to slow down the process.)

Just picked up mine January 8th!!
Ordered it early November (Mass. dealer). Paid MSRP. Dealer lowballed my trade. Oh well.

Same news: I got my Escape Hybrid on Jan. 11th payinf MSRP & standard interest at 6.09% over 60 months with close to "highest" credit score! Almost no other option to play with other than extended warranty and alarm, which financial staff coarced me to buy. I did not buy them, though.
I e-mailed to three Ford cerified dealers in New York City area, only one response came back saying they have one on the floor. Had to get it!
Better get my tax deduction from Fed. and State (NY)~ otherwise, I better get a very good and constant MPG, which everybody around me will nod at buying such car at such price.
Having said all, I love my new Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD. MPG is getting higher especially in a heavy traffic....funny that I almost want to be stuck in the traffic looking at MPG going over and over...hahaha. One thing to look at bright side when you are in heavy or endless stop-and-go local city traffic by having Hybrid~

Easy way to find Hybrids in your area.
FordDirect.com now lists the Hybrid as one of the options.
Put in your zip code and go from there.
IN NYC area, try searching with a midtown zip code first (10020) If you live on Long Island try zip code 11550 (Hempstead) and you'll get all the Nassau County dealers and some in Queens.
There are lots of Hybrids sitting around if you look in the right places!
