I just had the 15000-mile maintenance checkup on my 2004 Prius. Has anyone found this service interval to be a little expensive?

Yes. I spoke with two folks at the dealership before having it done this week. One said $160 and another said $220. Seems an excessive price for an oil change, tire rotation, and a dozen inspections. We pointed out the discrepancy in estimates, and they said they'd look into whether they can provide the lower price. (I get the impression sometimes that Toyotas are engineered and manufactured so darned well that it makes some of their dealerships desperate.) A little shocking in comparison to the more reasonably priced check-ins at 5K and 10K miles. Everything about this car is fantastic except the recommended maintaince schedule.

When people use superior 100% synthetic lubricants and superior air & oil filters, they will realize oil change intervals as much as 25,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first. That means a reduction in operation and maintenance expenses. There is only one product option that I can honestly recomend.

I don't know where you are but maintenance on my 2002 Prius has always been free at my dealer.
