'07 HCH - STEERS RIGHT all the time.

Created May 29, 2007, at 11:12 am by Mrock

I'm at 4 1/2 Thousand miles, and from the word "Go" have had to compensate for the car's mild tendency to track to the right. Tires are fine and inflated at 40. I've been too busy to call the dealership, but will today. I would like your input first, anyway.
Has anyone experienced this?

MRock;

We've mentioned several times that our HCH's have been found to arrive from the factory with varying amounts of mis-alignment. So it is a good idea for new owners to request that the dealership perform an alignment prior to delivery. Some dealerships do that without complaints because they know it helps. In my case, I always get an alignment upon delivery. In every single case there was some mis-alignment.

I suspect you may have such an issue. Could you look at the wear of all your 4 tires and report on what you see?
Also, could you see if the air pressures on the front right tire and rear left tire are similar to the remaining other two tires?

Cheers;

MSANTOS, thanks.
The only difference I can see is that both front tires have lost the tiny nubs that are about a 1/4 inch in from the outer edge of the tread. It's been three weeks since I uped the tire pressures on all 4 to 40 lbs from 32, and I haven't rotated quite yet.

You could also be experiencing road crown pull and or radial tire pull.
Before you have an alignment, it`s best to verify if it`s an actual alignment issue.
Radial tires can cause a vehicle to pull.
Road crown is also another factor many overlook.
If your not ready to rotate the tires, you should first swap the front two and see if this problem changes.
If not, then you could have the alignment checked.
