Hey gang! Just got off the phone with my dealer buddy and he says the new '06 HCH will hit the lot in Sept.
Seen a lot of pre-release photos and the new engine system will turn it into a full hybid this time. Keeps getting better! Cant wait!

Where have you seen the pictures of the 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid? I've checked the honda website and only saw one Si pic.
Also, what does full hybrid mean?
what I like about Civic Hybrid is they have 5-speed manual. Will they keep this option in their 06 Model?

October 5th was when the price was supposed to be released on the '06 HCH.
Let us know when it shows up. I've looked everywhere.

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- American Honda Motor Co., Inc.,
today announced the pricing of the completely redesigned 2006 Honda Civic
Hybrid, the most economical and environmentally responsible gasoline-powered
Civic ever. The 2006 Civic Hybrid, which achieves an EPA estimated
city/highway fuel economy of 50/50 miles per gallon*, goes on sale October 19
with a price of $21,850, or $23,350 when equipped with Honda's optional
satellite linked navigation system.
Characterized by advanced new styling, Honda's all-new Civic Hybrid also
offers the latest in safety technology, as well an array of standard features,
such as multiple audio entertainment choices, that increase content and value
well beyond the 3.8 percent sales-weighted price increase over the 2005 model.
"The all-new 2006 model delivers the ultimate in efficient technology and
heightened safety, with the highest fuel economy of any Civic at a time when
fuel economy matters more than ever," said Dick Colliver, executive vice
president, automobile sales. "It is the perfect example of how to balance the
needs of our customers and the environment, while offering an unbeatable
value."
The latest generation of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology
allows the Civic to achieve an EPA estimated city/highway fuel economy of
50/50 miles per gallon* while achieving Advanced-Technology Partial Zero
Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) standards in all 50 states. Equipped with a
continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard equipment for 2006, Civic
Hybrid fuel economy increases by 6 percent in the city and 4 percent on the
highway as compared to the 2005 Civic Hybrid with CVT and AT-PZEV
certification. The Civic Hybrid can now deactivate all four of its cylinders
and operate using only the electric motor in certain steady-state cruising
situations. Compared to the 2006 Civic Sedan with an automatic transmission,
the Civic Hybrid provides a city fuel economy increase of approximately
65 percent and a highway fuel economy increase of 25 percent.
Standard features on all 2006 Civic Hybrids include:
-- Advanced Compatibility Engineering(TM) (ACE(TM)) Body Structure
-- 1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with 20-horsepower electric motor
(combined 110-horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 123 lb-ft. torque @1000-2500
rpm)
-- New lighter, more powerful and efficient Integrated Motor Assist
(IMA) system with greatly enhanced energy regeneration capability and
electric-only operation
-- Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) as standard equipment
-- 50/50 mpg city/highway*
-- AT-PZEV emission technology in all 50 states
-- Exclusive interior styling includes IMA instrument panel meters,
two-tone seating surfaces and new blue interior option
Honda first introduced U.S. consumers to hybrid technology with the
Insight in December 1999. It launched its second hybrid vehicle, the Civic
Hybrid, in March 2002, followed by the first-ever V6-powered hybrid, the
Accord Hybrid, in December 2004. Destination and handling charges for all
2006 Honda vehicles are $550.

mileage estimates were not available at the time of printing. Use for

Green,
Although the concept of a gearbox (CVT or manual) in a hybrid is clearly a useless vestige of the old days, it is the reason I have the HCH since my wife insists on a manual.
I guess if they do, we'll end up buying another HCH.
It's great to hear they finally are offering a full hybrid (ability to turn the ICE (internal combustion engine) off and run in electric mode only. Hopefully, a plug-in version isn't far behind.

Does anybody else have a dealer buddy with a better date for the HCH deliveries?
No One I have spoken to has a firm answer as to when. I have personally spoken with dealers over the last month or so who have quoted me first cars arriving in late October (OK, we know that is not true!) to others delaers saying, "we will notr have cars until December".
I'm sure there will be a bunch of posting when the first production HCH hits the street ! Not much to do but wait...

Dealer here in the Boston area said today that HCH's should be arriving between November 9th and 13th.
I already have a VIN # from the dealer.

OK, so I just got off the phone with my dealer. He still has no new information. He said that all he has is a "predate" that is (in theory) when the car is expected to get to port (in Japan). At which time they process it and are supposed to send the dealer the VIN -- it then takes "about three weeks" to get to the lot. Of course, he added that this number is really not reliable and they have had the cars just show up on a truck at the lot without ever getting any prior notice. So, it could be May before I get the car, for all Honda is willing to say.
I can't blame my dealer. He is a good guy who is just not getting any infomation down above. I know it isn't his fault. In fact, he pointed out that the mpg-rating changed post-EPA testing. (The "50/50" was "pending EPA tests" all along, and at some point they switched to the official EPA estimate of "49/51" -- now if that set something into motion within Honda, no one knows.)
Those of you who have been given a VIN: when did you put your names down for your cars? (We went in at the beginning of September, during the Honda Clearance Event.)
In today's high-tech, global market there has to be some way to find out WTF is going on! What ever happened that whole 6-degrees-of-separation-thing? Doesn't some one know someone else who can talk to a friend or a cousin that know the Honda CEO -- or something?
How about getting some news posted somewhere about all of this? I see press releases from Honda about the GX, and incentives for the Accord Hybrid, and the Si coming out... why can't there be an AP article about the HCH delays and the company's total lack of disclosure to their customers?

I keep hearing about the release date for the Civic but what about the Accord? Any idea when they are going to hit the lots?
I love the new Accord's rear. So much better than what came before.

The Civic Hybrids have hit dealer's lots as we speak. I know I am the GSM of a Honda dealership in NY and we got 2 of them on 11/11/05 (sorry sold).

On 11/10 the dealer in Carson, CA had just gotten their first 3 that day. It was MSRP+$4000 AND had approximately $800 of dealer added accessories.
In Southern Cal, I have found that many dealers have told me that they will sell at MSRP (5 to be exact) and a few at $1000 markup before the car is on the lot. However, when the vehicle actually arrives or when they have the VIN# available for "pre-sale" they spring on you the actual mark-up AND the dealer-installed accessories that you have to buy. It is rediculous!! why do you have to buy the cargo mat??!!! It's not like a navigation system or leather seats that they can't remove, they are friggin cargo mats!!! I am soooo soured on the whole car buying experience after the past 3 months of waiting for a hybrid

After talking to two dealerships I believe the Accord '06 will be out by the end of December or the first week in January. My dealer tells me it will however be full sticker price. I hate Honda the company. They are so all about themselves..
But its going to be a good car. Full sticker price? I guess thats because I have owned six honda/acura products. I am just feeling the love..

I got my 06 Honda Civic Hybrid at Kolbe Honda in Reseda, CA. I paid MSRP + $200 for Door Edge Guard. I was very suprise when I picked up the car because the dealer did not add on additional charge. Contact Vartan for the internet price (MSRP) and tell him that I refer you. (818) 609-7441

to Dislike Car Dealers...join the crowd! More and more of us getting the 'bait & switch'. Search 'HCH buying experiences' on Edmunds and even other discussions here.
Tracy Honda, Dublin Honda are two major culprits in N. CA even with written prices. I've read too people are filing complaints to BBB, American Honda and local papers. Interesting responses too. Good luck!

I am glad that Minh was happy with Kolbe Honda because we were not particularly happy with them. First, we preordered the car and waited almost 2 months and when we went to pick it up the car on Nov 18th, we were very dissapointed because the vehicle did not come with the Navigation option that we ordered. Instead of making good with a returning customer and a customer that has referred at least 10 coustomers to them, the manager kept asking if the "customer" wanted the car or not, and if not, give them back the deposit and have them go buy it some where else because there is another customer that will come pick it up in a minute! Well, we took the car anyways and have been quite happy with it. Seams that the car is getting better mileage as we put more mileage on it, we now get about 41 miles/gallon. Drives bery nice, very solid, and has a lot more zip than a Prius that my brother has.
Oh we didn't get MSRP because they added $500 over it but didn't charge for the door guard. About above, Honda of America didn't seem to care too much about it eithe.

Ty,
Sorry to hear about that. Similiar thing happened to me and a lot of bait and switch happening to a few others too. And a few of these folks, like me, are trying to fight back with letters/complaints to local Better Business Bureaus, American Honda Corp, etc.
For ex., look through - http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/ (Prices paid & buying experiences of Civic Hybrid)
These sleezy sales types know they have a hot car that people are paying premium for and are trying to take advantage of it.
They and others can look at as capitalism at work, but their tactics are unethical.

Was waiting for months for my new civic hybrid..with no luck and a deposit down. The dealer told me in the middle of Dec my civic would be in...no dice...So I called a dealer out of state in Maryland...They had the exact 06 hybrid I was waiting for...plus they had one Mattallic Pearl with Nav...It's still there if anyone wants to grap it....They are selling it at MSRP...I think its around 23,800...It's Wheerler Honda in Easton MD...I could not believe no one picked that car up yet....Anyone this are is awesome...quite, runs smooth...I'm getting 48.3 miles per gallon over the first 300 miles....not bad...anywhere this car rocks..
