Ford Testing Escape Plug-in Hybrid

Ford has been seen testing an Escape plug-in hybrid believed to be coming in the next year or two.

The “Escape Energi” builds on lessons learned from a prior generation of experimental plug-in Escapes, and no doubt merges tech from its current plug-in Fusion and C-Max.

Tech details are otherwise absent, but without citing a source, it was reported it is expected to arrive late 2018 or 2019 as a 2020 model at which point, it’s speculated the C-Max will be replaced.

Ford has applied for trademarks to build plug-in hybrid versions of the Focus, Explorer, and Transit.

It undoubtedly is at work on “future product,” including an F-150 reports along the way have cited.

It’s little secret Americans want plug-in and hybrid trucks, crossovers, and SUVs, and it appears the very popular Escape is a good first candidate.
