Well, it wouldn't be the first time our esteemed government did something stupid for "our best interest," and also for the sake of a few votes or a few bucks. Our current government is certainly corrupt enough to do this.
Electric cars can't get here soon enough, as long as you don't live in an area where brownouts are possible, as long as you don't need anything trucked in on a non-diesel vehicle, and as long as you do all your business close to home (which is a wonderful luxury if you can do it, by the way)

I hope we have a choice of 10 percent or 15 percent! Some cars engines were ruined by the 10 percent ethanol mix was messed up. The gasoline stations were protected from letting the consumers know, which stations had messed up gas. All three of my cars are built after 2004 and not sure if they can take 15 percent without some problem or wrecking my engines!

Yea gasoline will become even less efficient.... Federal mandates and more ethanol subsidies ahead. Too bad consumers can't choose if they want or don't want ethanol blends in their gas tanks. So much for free markets and options...

I don't mind increasing Ethanol content if it's planned well, and preferable for the right reasons, not as political pay off. I'm in no hurry for electric vehicles to get here. I hope biodiesel and ethanol production from non food sources increases. Though I'm no fan of the fact that corn syrup goes into all sorts of crappy processed food (if you can call it food), so maybe raising the price on corn products by burning more as fuel isn't such a bad idea...

Good news. Brazil became Oil independent by moving to Ethanol, now USA will follow suit.

Note : Chinas oil consumption has exceeded 9 million b/d and pretty soon it will hit 10 million b/d and the Oil prices will start to race towards $100 / barrel. Only escape route in the short term is to move to E15 while the bigger vehicles can move to CNG.

Also the cellulose Ethanol is hitting the market and that will take over from Corn.
