9691: I have bitched about the Japanese trade restrictions until I am blue in the face for decades.

I think fair trade means that there are only tariffs placed on items that were manufactured out of compliance with the importing country's rules for safety and pollution. It is not fair to kill your workers to make cheaper goods, or to fill our skies with your Hg in order to produce cheap power for your factories. I do realize that some European countries could impose tariffs on some of our goods following these same rules.

Well Charles, you are not saying that about Japan, which has a very strict protective automobile import policy in place for decades. I don’t see us complaining about that. The sleeping Giant has been awaken. What now?

So I hope we can change our incentive program so that China's EV cannot qualify. I believe strongly in fair trade, not so much in whatever China is planning.

Open markets are fine, but one way trading is not.
