Launched in December 2010, the Chevrolet Volt fleet has driven more than 1 billion total miles, with close to two-thirds of this without using gasoline in all-electric mode.
The Volt’s Web site ticker keeps track based on most, but not all, of the cars’ data via OnStar, and to date close to 33 million gallons of gas have been saved.
We’ve observed the supposedly real-time data ticker track backwards or stop at times, but the milestone is safe to declare crossed as the miles driven shown at present is six-million over the 1 billion mark. Total EV miles are over 629 million, and fuel saved is 32.7 million gallons.
Through September more than 69,000 Volts have been sold in the U.S.
