... and then there are people like me, who can't figure out how Mercedes/BMW are considered "green companies" for introducing vehicles with such poor fuel economy, efficiency, and emissions.

If Ford is a “portfolio” player, then where is my Diesel Ford Fiesta???? Last I heard it will be gasoline only, which is a seriously disappointing situation… the clean diesel version would be a much better car to bring over here. Oh yeah, “it won’t sell” yada yada ya…

I’m glad at least VW and Mercedes-Benz didn’t follow the popular crowd and decide hybrids are what everyone must want… because some of us don’t. Give us choices and let us (the consumers) decide which technologies we want. Same with the Government… quit pushing a particular technology… one size does NOT fit all…

So what you're saying is that Ford, GM, and Nissan understand what "Alternative Fuel" means. The rest are hoping to get away with just painting the existing excrement on their lots 'green'.
As long as we reward people for being 'green' (a good-feeling, yet completely undefined term), they'll continue to try to push the same stuff upon us so they can make a profit without helping solve any problems.
