1) if there can be gas stations with combustible gas buried in the ground in a enclosed tank on every corner, there can be a battery station too. Done
2) I wouldn’t give a crap about my battery any more than I care about my tires that I swap out every year or so. That’s a stupid argument.

People seem to forget the Better Place cars are rechargable too. The battery change is for extended range driving.

It could technically work in the future, but it would require 2 changes of epic proportions:

1) A VERY well established infrastructure in the US. Essentially, there would need to be one at every street corner, kinda like gas stations are now.

2) Commoditization of VERY expensive batteries. I don't think Americans are quite ready to give in to swapping batteries. They have a "I bought this car, I bought the battery, it's mine" mentality. Just like the way people keep buying laptops, even though tablets are more portable, stay on longer between charges, and do (mostly) the same thing laptops do. Old habits die hard in the US.

This is the future…and all you naysayers out there can eat it. You have criticized me in the past for saying battery swaps will never work. Well, they are reality now…I am just pissed that I didn’t invest as much time and effort as Shai Agassi.
