It seems A123 gave donations to Obama and also received grants from the Administration. very Solyndra like. And did Johnson Controls use some of their 299 million in federal grants to buy A123.

It is good to have golden connections to the Obama administration.

I had a feeling that their announcement several months ago that their Nanophosphate EXT Li ion batteries (that don't need heating or cooling systems), would be on the market by 2014 July was out of desperation. Wonder what will become of that tech -- vaporware??? Or will Johnson Controls bring it to market? If so, when?

Hate to say it, but we need an adult who understands business to run this country for awhile. Someone who won't make declarations like, we'll have 1,000,000 EVs/PHEVs/PHVs on the road by 2015.

What is “invisible” are the green jobs bought by unwisely invested capital. Who makes the batteries in Ford Energi, Chevy Volt, and Nissan Leaf? Nothing wrong with green jobs that yield paychecks, paid for from the sale of products on the open market.

Thank goodness; it would be particularly insane if the same R&D that our government helped financially support ended up sold to a Chinese company. I think it probably would have been a lot worse PR-wise than Solyndra – at least Solyndra is easy to see as “we bet on ourselves and lost”. This would have been “we bet on ourselves and then got sold out to China”.

Lots of overtime at some points. Management does not want to spend money on trainings or if it does they might be delayed after it is really needed… Usually tools are bought with only financial aspect not if they are 100% suitable for the projects.

Expect the socialists to blame “unfair” practices by “evil” others, i.e. anyone but the socialists. This is exactly the model of the Soviet Union, where those with political connections get the gold, but the actual innovators get the blame. This time it was those awful folks at LG, Panasonic and Nissan.
