This version:
-has 108 horsepower.
-longer gear ratios on a 5 speed manual transmission.

I could not find information on performance, but from the Golf with this transmission and a similar hp.

Speeding from 37 to 62 mph (converted from km/h):
-Prius 6.3 sec.
-Golf 18.5 sec.

From the real tests made by the car magazine in Europe:
Prius as advertised - 3.9 liters/100km
Prius real live test - 4.1 (more 0.2 than official numbers)

Golf as advertised - 4.5 liters/100km
Golf real live test - 5.7 (more 1.2 than official numbers)

The Golf has a long history in Europe of making good number for the European Standards, but not in the real world.

Even so, 3.2 are very good comparing with the diesel competition.

Well, in the European test duty cycle (NEDC), the Prius produces 89 g/km, and this article states that the Golf BlueMotion produces 85 g/km. The carcinogenic particles are a non-issue because these diesel vehicles don't produce any.

The Prius may be a larger car with respect to inside capacity, but it probably still has lower effective frontal area due to the fact that its coefficient of drag (Cd) is less than the Golf BlueMotion (0.25 vs. 0.27 (according to the press release), respectively).

Improvement – but still a way to go.
This is definitively going in the right direction. Yet, in the European Test cylce a Prius also would make 65 mpG. Given that Diesel produce 15% more CO2 and additionally issue cancerogenous particles and given that a Prius is a larger car I do not think that this is much improvement over state-of-the art.

Why not they bring this vehicle to USA.

Meanwhile Audi also showed a great concept Plugin vehicle with 2 motors.
