Part of the tradeoff will be that the C-Max is somewhat more spacious for the passengers, and that it boasts a substantially more powerful engine/motor combination. (188hp for the C-Max versus 134hp for the Prius V, with 129 lb.-ft. torque versus 105 lb.-ft. for the Prius V.) Yes, it is about 350 pounds heavier, but the more powerful engine/motor combination should still be worth quite a bit of actual driving power — with less fuel consumption.

It should be competitive with the Prius-classic despite the lower fuel economy and higher price. It does however, have a larger cargo area than the Prius-classic (24.5 vs. 21.6 cubic feet). For those who need small SUV like cargo area, you should check out the Prius V (34.3 cubic feet).

Even against Prius’s 50mpg, the 47 all around number is great. Not to mention that it can operate in EV mode up to 62mph.

Now as far as Energi model goes, I want to know if it is Volt like or Prius Plugin like. Can the Energi models operate in PURE EV mode regardless of driver input and speed?

That is the $35k question.
