Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) reached a record number of hybrid vehicle sales during the month of January.
The TCI hybrid sales record was accomplished with 853 vehicles sold (up 30.4 percent when compared to January 2012).
These sales were led by the Prius family (up 63.1 percent) and Lexus hybrids (up 23.5 percent).
Toyota hybrid sales totaled 664 units (up 32.5 percent). Hybrids represented 8 percent of Toyota-branded vehicles sales in January.
The Prius family reached sales of 429 units for a new January record (up 63.1 percent). Within the Prius family, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid reached its best month ever with 33 sales; the Prius c represented 106 sales. These 106 Prius c accounted for 21.8 percent of overall Toyota subcompact sales in January.
The midsize sedan Camry Hybrid reached 176 sales (up 7.3 percent).
The Lexus family of vehicles contributed to 189 hybrid vehicles sales in January. This represents a new January record (up 23.5 percent) for Lexus hybrid sales.
In total, hybrid models accounted for 23.2 percent of Lexus sales in January
