@Shines – it appears both the “i-stop” and “i-ELOOP” are available with the SkyActiv-D based on a blog post on Green Car Congress…

“… i-ELOOP joins the i-stop idle-stop system and SKYACTIV powertrains, chassis and body (introduced on the CX-5) to deliver fuel consumption as low as 3.9 l/100 km (60 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 104 g/km (European combined cycle with standard diesel SKYACTIV-D 2.2 and SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual), in the CD-segment without sacrificing performance.

Mazda is offering the choice of five SKYACTIV engines (two diesels and three gasoline powerplants) coupled with six-speed manual or automatic transmissions in the Mazda6. Most are available with i-ELOOP as well as i-stop….”

Well this is good to hear. Unfortunately I had to go ahead and act so monday I’m picking up a VW Jetta Sportswagen TDI with 6 speed manual transmission. I don’t believe anybody else makes a similar vehicle right now.

cj – I think there are 2 things being talked about here. The SKYACTIV-D clean Diesel and the i-ELOOP stop start technology (which I don’t think can be combined with the diesel.) If you do a lot of city driving the conventional engine with i-ELOOP will probably be a better choice – if more highway driving – probably the deisel.
In the mean time I gotta say the styling of the new 6 is pretty sleek! Very close to the styling of the Tesla S.

The confusion originated with Mazda which has now updated its press materials.

UPDATE:

Performance estimates for the SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine are not yet available. The original version of this engine sold in Japan produces 310 pound-feet of torque.

The SKYACTIV-G 2.5L gas engine is estimated to produce 184 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 185 pound-feet of torque at 3,250 rpm.

The stated power and torque figures for the diesel in this article are wrong. Those are the figures for the gas engine.

Your numbers in the article are incorrect. The diesel can produce about 175 HP and 310 LB/FT of torque at just above idle. under 8 seconds to 62 mph.don’t undersell this amazing piece of machinery! and no AdBlue either! high 40′s mpg on the highway according to the European real world experiences i have read.
