Yes, I see where Infinity claims the system is safe for kids and pets. In the graphic demonstration, the inductive coupling is shown to be about 6 inches long, i.e. pad on floor and receiver near bottom of car.

Perhaps it is no more dangerous than an MRI. Another issue is efficiency, how many KWh supplied versus how many received. The people who would buy this car would not car if the efficiency was less than 50%, but I would. Using a cable, electrical gas costs about one dollar per gallon ( yes, I know a whole bunch of assumptions are involved but simplicity is good). So if it costs two dollars per gallon to use the wireless, that would add up for poor folks like me.

Van: your cat would only have a problem if it happened to be electromagnetically vibrating at the right frequency. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_energy_transfer

Jeff: is there any actual news here? Nissan reps said at the LE unveiling that the LE would have wireless. I see nothing new in this article, unless it's buried in one of the links.

Every time I see an article featuring wireless charging, the same question crosses my mind, what happens to the kitty curled up on the charging pad when it turns on???

Until this basic question is answered, its vaporware.

Reading between the lines, I see the possibility that the Smyrna plant may produce the next generation battery and it will appear first in the Infinity. Time will tell.
