Have purchased two older Altimas for my grandkids, so I know
the Altima is a great auto. Which is why I planned to buy a new
gas-sipping 27-38 mpg for myself...until I phoned tweleve (12)
dealers and asked the price of a white/charcoal unit. Not one
dealer would provide a price. Drive over, we'll talk, was the
response--every time. They can ram their Altima where the
sun doesn't shine.

This kind of justification of cancelling the hybrid is just silly.

Buyers in the market who are looking for good mileage like those offered by a hybrid will be comparing '12 camry hybrid (43/39/41 mpg, a huge jump from '11 camry hybrid 31/35/33 mpg), or '13 Fusion hybrid 41/36/39 mpg, NOT comparing against a DISCONTINUED '11 Altima hybrid 33/33/33 mpg.

38 MPG is great for mid-size sedan, but Ford Fusion Hybrid is going to get 47 MPG. Hope Nissan will apply a similar fuel efficient engine with hybrid system to a vehicle like Versa Hatch and compete against Prius.

Prius is selling 20,000 units / month without any competition.
